Lesson terms

Cancellation policy

This policy explains the standard arrangements for cancelling or rescheduling automatic driving lessons with Green Light Automatic Driving School. Any different terms agreed with you in writing will take priority.

Cancelling or changing a lesson

Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson. Notice should be given directly by telephone, text message, WhatsApp or email. A cancellation is only confirmed once it has been acknowledged.

If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the full lesson fee may be charged because the reserved time may not be possible to offer to another learner. Genuine emergencies or exceptional circumstances may be considered at the instructor’s discretion.

Late arrival and missed lessons

If you arrive late, the lesson will normally still end at the agreed time and the full fee will remain payable. If you do not attend the agreed collection point and cannot be contacted within 15 minutes, the lesson may be treated as a late cancellation.

Fitness and safety

You must be fit to drive and hold a valid licence for the lesson. A lesson may be ended or cancelled if the instructor reasonably believes that illness, tiredness, alcohol, drugs, medication, abusive behaviour or another safety concern makes it unsafe to continue. Where the issue is within the learner’s control, the lesson fee may remain payable.

If the instructor cancels

Lessons may occasionally need to be changed because of illness, vehicle problems, severe weather or another event outside reasonable control. We will give as much notice as possible and offer a replacement lesson or credit. If a suitable replacement cannot be arranged, any fee paid for that lesson will be refunded.

Prepaid blocks and refunds

If you decide to stop lessons, please contact us about any unused prepaid hours. Subject to any written package terms, unused time will normally be refundable after lessons already taken have been charged at the applicable standard rate and any reasonable, non-recoverable costs have been deducted. Used, missed or late-cancelled lessons are not refundable.

Driving-test bookings

Use of the tuition car for a practical test is subject to the instructor being satisfied that you are ready to drive safely and independently. You are responsible for checking the test date, time, location and licence requirements. DVSA test fees and cancellation rules are separate from this policy, and third-party charges cannot normally be refunded by Green Light.

Bookings made online or by phone

Consumer cancellation rights may apply to bookings made at a distance. If you ask for lessons to begin during an applicable 14-day cancellation period, you may be required to pay for services already supplied. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights, including the right to services performed with reasonable care and skill.
